Virgin and Child in alabaster.
She is standing carrying the infant Jesus in her left arm, who is looking at her as she blesses the faithful with her right hand.
Italy, second half of the 17th century.
Height: 46.5 cm. W: 16 cm, D: 11 cm.
The top of the Virgin's head is flat and would have held a crown.
The tip of the child's left foot and a fold of the tunic in line with his right foot are very slightly missing, the Virgin's hand is glued back but complete, restoration to the neck, remains of polychromy and gilding in the folds of the tunic.
