True to his aesthetic principles, Alphonse Osbert goes straight to the point here, synthesising a spiritualised nature through the use of simplified forms, supported by the azure monochrome palette typical of his work. Only the yellow half-moon on the horizon brightens this bewitching "Osbert blue", offering a few golden reflections in the calm water below. In this way, a kind of supernatural aura emerges from this landscape, animated only on the right by an almost ghostly figure, whose spectral presence echoes like a poetic call to prayer, dream and meditation.
