Violet wood veneered chest of drawers with curved front. The front opens to reveal four drawers in three rows framed by rounded brass fluted uprights. Ornamented with gilded chased bronzes such as draw handles, key escutcheons, shell-shaped lamp bases and falls. White veined red marble top (accidents, missing parts, restorations).

Born in Marseille, François Lieutaud (1665-1748) worked under the reigns of Louis XIV and the Regency, the Crown granting him the privilege of working his bronzes. He created a dynasty of cabinet-makers with his son Charles and grandson Balthazar.
