Estimate: €3,000 - €6,000
Rare system table forming a games table and pedestal desk.
The top is richly inlaid with vases and birds framing a painting depicting a skating scene annotated "Winter Gesicht van de schie by de stad Delft", winter fun on the river Schie near the town of Delft.
This scene is based on the 1748 engraving by Jean-Philippe LE BAS after the painting by AERT VAN DER NEER (Pierre-François BASAN Pierre FOUQUET Fils).
This tray reveals a second game tray inlaid with two checkerboards framed by horns of plenty and foliage, and a third tray inlaid with four playing cards and foliage motifs framing a green felt carpet.
The third top reveals a pedestal forming a desk inlaid with playing cards, appearing to activate a system (the pedestal surmounted by an inlaid lectern).
It stands on four cambered legs, carved with foliage motifs and ending in balls enclosed by claws, the left rear leg pivoting to support the open tops.
