Georges-Frédéric CUVIER (1773-1838), zoologist and palaeontologist, brother of Georges. Autograph letter signed to the chemist Jean-Pierre-Joseph d'Arcet (1777-1844). 3 pp. in-8, headed "Instruction Publique". Dated "17 August". Address on the back. Paper a little browned. Heating for the King's menagerie at the Muséum. He sends his thanks "for the kindness you have shown in looking after our studies, and for the trouble you have taken in sending me your fine work, on which I have no comment to make. I thought I should give them to him straight away so as not to prolong the delay I was causing, and to satisfy him: for he was complaining loudly about the delay [...]".
