As he had to go to the funeral of M. Geoffroy, he was unable to receive the person responsible for putting his notes in order. He comments on a successful recommendation he made. One letter refers to a temporary quarrel between the two scholars. "The wording that you propose to me smoothes out all the difficulties, since each of us retains all our rights. It is unfortunate that you did not think of it sooner, as you would have avoided clouds between us, which fortunately have now dissipated and there will no longer be any trace to disturb our friendly relations [...]".
