BORIS VLADIMIROVITCH OF RUSSIA (Tsarskoe Selo 1877-1943), Grand Duke of Russia, first cousin of Nicholas II. 6 autograph letters signed (2 written on cards) to Bob Léry (Lacroix). 15 pp. in-8 and in-12. Tsarskoye Selo, San Remo and Paris, 1915-1922. Several written on paper with his crowned gold cipher. 24 February 1915 on the back of a card showing him in uniform and chapka: "How are you? I received a good letter from Mum, which was a joy for me. We're fighting hard here, I give you a big hug. Boris". 27 Nov. 1915. "If I took so long to answer you it's because I was on an inspection trip to the south, Odessa and Kieff. I came back this morning to find this good town of Mogileff in the middle of winter. Have you seen Schaeck from Paris? He was supposed to bring you a letter from me. This Tuesday I'm going to Petrograd for a few days, and then I'm going back north on an inspection. I send you and my mother my warmest and fondest love. Zarskoe Selo 19 Feb 1916. "My dear Bob, thank you for your letter from Switzerland. I am delighted that you are enjoying yourself with Mrs Schaeck's family and that her children are friendly to you. Do your best to behave well, to make sure that your lessons go well and that you never cause any pain or inconvenience to the family who have welcomed you so warmly. I'm counting on you! I've had good news from Mum [...]". From San Remo, he laments the fact that he has missed another exam and asks him to think about his future. "Your dinner at Ghika's intrigues me greatly. By what miracle did you dine with him? [...] Yes, here I am, in a lovely country with a charming climate [...]. I lead a quiet life here, taking long walks in the surrounding area [...]".
