Pair of cavalry officer's pistols model 1833 2nd model. Octagonal damascus barrels hallmarked MN 1849 on the right side and C (Pierre Chassepot, principal controller) and G (François Gaudin) in a rhombus on the left side, hair rifling, calibre 17.1 mm. Rear locks well marked Manufacture Nationale de Chatellerault (functional). Steel ramrods with brass heads. One of the two pistols is fitted with an unscrewable cap ring containing the magazine. Light walnut mounts with fine checkering. Total length 37 cm, barrels 20 cm. Genuine pair with all markings and hallmarks in very good condition. Category D.
