INDIA 18th - 19th century. TÂS BASIN with animal and epigraphic decoration, India, 18th - 19th century A tin-plated copper basin with a swollen body surmounted by a short cylindrical neck. The body is engraved with alternating crosses and eight-pointed stars, the stars furnished with an animal. This register is framed by friezes of floral scrolls and on the neck runs a frieze of Greek meanders. The background, replaced by an element from a foreign piece, is decorated with flower corollas with petals decorated with letters of the Arabic alphabet, and an Arabic inscription all around.
