Louis Georges Brillouin was a French painter renowned for his depictions of scenes from everyday life. He was born in Saint-Jean-d'Angély and began his artistic studies at the École des Beaux-Arts in 1840. Brillouin specialised in painting scenes of daily life and his work was well received in his day. In 1865, he received a medal for his works entitled "Chasseur" (Hunter) and "Scène de jeu" (Game Scene). One of his most important works, "La visite d'amateurs", was exhibited at the Salon of 1867 and was remarkable enough to be bought for the collection of the King of the Belgians.
