Denise ROMANINI-ARAGON (1910-?). "Portrait of a woman. Oil on canvas. Signed lower right. Size: 54 x 46 cm. Painter and sculptor, she was born in Nancy in 1910. She studied painting with Victor Prouvé and sculpture with Carl at the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Nancy. Until the 1940s, she pursued a career as a painter and sculptor, painting portraits and sculpting busts of prominent figures. In 1937, she was awarded a Silver Medal at the Salon des Artistes Français. From 1945, she gave up sculpture and devoted herself solely to painting: nudes, dancers, portraits and flowers in oils and landscapes in gouache brought back from her trips to Venice and Ariège.
