[Silk] [Manuscript] Bost-Sonnery's theory notebook begun on 26 April 1833 at Monsieur Maisiat's. [Lyon], 1833. One volume in folio of 120 ff. handwritten in black ink, half leather turned over with corners (wear, jaws partially split). Perfectly legible manuscript, written by a silk worker from Lyon and devoted to the Principles of silk fabric manufacture. The text is illustrated with numerous handwritten tables and technical diagrams as well as pasted-on samples. Étienne Maisiat (1794-1848) was a manufacturing teacher at the Ecole Spéciale de Commerce, then at the Ecole de la Martinière from 1836 until 1848. He made major advances in the art of weaving silk fabrics.
