Derived from the Citroën Dyane, the Méhari was first proposed in 1968 by an inventor, Roland de la Poype, who saw in this agricultural vehicle the opportunity to apply the invention of a composite material, ABS, Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene. His prototype won over the brand, which decided to produce it in series. The presentation in May 1968 on the Deauville golf course, in the midst of the social revolution, went somewhat unnoticed, but the Dyane Méhari quickly proved its worth and won over young people, surfers and the military alike. The French army snapped it up in 1972 for use as an all-purpose liaison vehicle, and ordered more than 7,000 examples throughout its career. Our Mehari is a demobilised army vehicle in need of restoration. All the specific features required for military use are present, including the 24V electrical system, the reinforced chassis and the mounting plates for military accessories. It has two seats and a bench. The engine is not blocked but needs to be restarted. The bodywork components are present, but some have defects. The tarpaulin needs changing, as does the black imitation seat trim. The odometer shows 20,106 km. The car is sold as is, without registration, for parts or restoration.
