ASSOCIATION DES DECORES DE LA LEGION D'HONNEUR AU PERIL DE LEUR VIE - DPLV (founded 1927) - MEMBER'S BRASSARD, red with tricolour border. FIVE-ARMED STAR, silver-plated and enamelled, 43 x 43 mm, white enamelled star of the Légion d'Honneur type, red enamelled centre with skull and crossbones. Inscribed in gold lettering on the armband around the cross "Au péril de leur vie" ("At the risk of their lives"), fastened by press studs. Association founded in 1927 by journalist and First World War veteran Maurice d'Hartoy as a reaction to abusive appointments. Still in existence today, this association brings together "members of the Legion of Honour, French or foreign, decorated for acts of courage accomplished in the service of France and at the risk of their lives...".
