The subject of this mask, the antelope known as the duiker, occupies an important place in the beete of the Kwele community. Léon Siroto notes that many young men go out for a week - sometimes even a whole month - to hunt antelope with nets in the forest, creating a sense of belonging to a group that is obliged to stick together.
