"In the first of the two speeches that make it up, the author violently protests against the ceremonies of the Roys de la Fève and du Roy-boit; in the second, he studies the means of turning the festivities of this festival upside down and of doing away with the meals to which it gave rise, these meals being, according to him, nothing but veritable orgies, reminiscent of the saturnalia of the ancients" (Vicaire, Bibliographie gastronomique, 272).
