note: on 15 July 1808 Marshal Murat, the most famous of the Marshals of the Empire, Grand Duke of Berg and husband of Caroline Bonaparte, was appointed King of Naples by the Emperor under the name of Joachim Napoleon. Because of Murat's presence in the armies, the government fell to Caroline, who ran the country perfectly. On the orders of Ferdinand IV Murat was arrested and sentenced to death, executed on 13 October 1815.
