TOURS / MEDICINE - Table medal in honour of the Surgeon GUILLAUME - LOUIS ( * ).
Plate 54 x 72 mm - bronze 202 grammes, in its original box, wood and velvet.
Bust in high relief, profile to the left by F. BAZIN ( ** ) - Reverse: "to Doctor Guillaume - Louis, his friends 1930, below arms of Tours on a shield with palms.
( * ) Dr GUILLAUME-LOUIS : born on 21 January 1878 in Pointe à Pitre / Guadeloupe, died on 30 June 1957 in Tours. Director of the Tours Medical School after having been a surgeon at the St Gatien de Clocheville asylum, also a gynaecological surgeon at the nursing home of the Augustinian nuns of St Louans in Tours, Founder of the Velpeau nursing home in Tours - War surgeon in 1914/18 in ARTOIS in Houdain, then the Somme, the Aisne and Verdun. In this capacity he founded the association des Poilus de Touraine.
Mayor of MONTBAZON (37) 1939/41 & 1945/47, General Councillor of Montbazon 1939/40 & 1945/51, President of the Indre & Loire General Council 1945/46 & 1947/57.
( ** ) François BAZIN : born and died in Paris 1897 / 1956 - sculptor and medallist. École Nationale des Arts Décoratifs & École supérieure des beaux arts de Paris. Created the radiator cap for Hispano Suiza (stork 1920), the black Citroën cruise (Mangbetu woman's head), Isotta, Latil, Unic, La Licorne cars...
Stayed at the Villa Médicis as Grand Prix de Rome in sculpture in 1925.
