VERSAILLES 1784. A Versailles silver tripod coffee pot. Standing on three sabot feet with cartouches surmounted by a ribbon. Fluted spout with falling knob. Side handle in blackened wood (tiny chips). Charging and discharge marks for VERSAILLES 1781-89. Common house hallmark for VERSAILLES 1784 (fleur-de-lys and year "84"). Marks of Jean MASSE (fleur-de-lys, two grains, his initials "JM" and a club), received in 1762, goldsmith of the King in Versailles. Height: 21 cm. Gross weight: 738.8 grams. Small marks on the base. An ewer and its basin by Jean Massé was in the David WEILL collection.
