Rare first edition, complete with engravings: lithographed title by Engelmann, 5 vignettes in the text and 40 lithographed plates by Langlumé and Villain after Edouard Pingret (in collaboration with Victor Adam for one lithograph).
Edouard Pingret (1785-1869), painter of portraits and genre scenes, pupil of David and Baron de Regnaut.
