Estimate: €1,000 - €2,000
This Citroën Eco 2000 prototype is from the Citroën Conservatoire. It was used to carry out wind tunnel tests. With a CX of 0.321 and fuel consumption of 3.5 litres, its road-going version was even tested by journalists and given a speed of 140 km/h. In the 1980s, the French government subsidised manufacturers' research. There was already talk of production vehicles consuming 3 litres per 100 km by the year 2000.
Ahead of the other French manufacturers, Citroën proposed 4 prototypes called ECO 2000. The third prototype, the SA 109 (the previous two were the SA 103 and SA 119), was unveiled in March 1984. Now very close to a marketable vehicle, it weighed 450 kg and retained a Cx of 0.22. Full up to window level, it was used for wind tunnel testing. Engineers and technicians worked hard on this prototype to produce the fourth, even more powerful version.
This model is a true testament to Citroën's technological history. A rare piece to collect for the future or to display in your living room. A unique opportunity to own a piece of the marque's history.
