France: Hunting rifle similar to the Royal hunting rifles by CAZES Arquebusier du Roi à PARIS, converted to percussion. Burnished steel barrel with thundered sides then blued, engraved and formerly inlaid with gold "CAZES ARQUEBUSIER DU ROY A PARIS", the word "ROY" was later changed to "PATIO". The breech tail is engraved with foliage and foliage scrolls, numbered "N°26". The brass rear sight is surrounded by gold scrolls. Flat-bodied iron lock, engraved and signed "CAZES Arquebusier du Roi à Paris", the lock tail engraved with trophies. Walnut stock with long shaft carved with scrolls and palmettes with green morocco cheek pad edged with studded flat silver braid. The white metal fittings are cut and engraved with foliage, scrolls and geometric friezes. All screw heads are guilloché. Barrel pitting, tanning and bluing very damaged, green morocco very damaged, butt cracked with cracks and crazing. Missing ramrod.
